Hello November!

Welcome to my favorite month! I think the only thing I don't like about November is that the heating bill starts to crank up. I found that double rainbow while looking out my kitchen window doing dishes. It stayed for about 10 minutes and was gone.

Halloween weekend was nice. Quincy thoroughly enjoyed himself and I was amazed how quickly he caught on to the concept of trick or treating. We went to all the houses that were handing out candy on both sides of the street of our block. After two houses he was knocking on the doors himself and holding his orange pumpkin bucket out. Although he often tried to give candy back to people and wanted into their houses, he did great. A couple times he dropped the bucket and we had to stop and wait for him to pick all the candy up. My Dad hung out on Halloween and we ordered VIP pizza, watched Land of the Lost and I whipped up some homemade caramel corn that was fantastic! We couldn't stop eating it! It was really that good.

I forgot to take pictures of Quincy in his costume, but he'll be dressing up one more time for 'Grandma Airplane' this week, so I'll get another chance.

Demolition was on the agenda yesterday. The wall and ceiling in Q's closet that had the roof leak needed to be torn out. Gross! I swear the old insulation looked like bloated mummies. Two layers of lath board and plaster later we hit the outside wall. The wood under the slanted ceiling needs to be replaced from the outside next weekend when the roofers come. You could seriously punch a hole with your fist right out onto the roof it's that rotten in that spot. Oh god I miss renting sometimes, but watching the roofers next weekend is going to be fun!

Damn you cheerleaders and your convenient bakesale right next to my office!

Hey, at least I bought the small cookies, the ones without any frosting.

Let's talk about WoW for a little bit. When is the HH mount going to drop? We only have until the end of this week. During the Halloween 2 week holiday, the Headless Horseman can be killed once a day per player. So we get a group together, kill him between 5 and 11 times a night and pray that the mount drops. Sure, it's cool because he has glowy feet, but the ultra cool part is that he's a flying mount as well as a ground mount and that's uber awesome. When will I get one??? The agony...

This weekend my legs are feeling less like chewed up meat after last Wednesday's first roller derby practice, which is awesome because this Wednesday I'm going to get beat up again. I went out and got some cheap pads and a helmet. The quest to think up a cool derby name continues. So far, the front-runner has been Pandasaurus, but it just isn't "it", you know? Other contenders suggested by the friends and fam have been Heidi Hurtabitch, The Serbian, and Panda Power Source. The search continues.

This weekend was a big milestone at home: Clay took down Q's crib! He slept on the crib mattress on the floor, and it was totally no big deal. We read books as usual and tucked him under his favorite Kung Fu Panda blankie with a new pillow, gave him a kiss, turned the lights off, and closed the door. The first night he woke up around 3am a little confused about where he was in the room. All he needed was a little reassurance and he was back to sleep. He slept 12 hours straight last night and at 8am this morning I found him in bed, quietly reading some books! Awesome!

I dedicate today to Roller Derby Bruises & Humas

I can't describe how much fun I had last night! It was my first roller derby practice with the Harbor City Roller Dames! I was entirely enjoying myself even though I probably hadn’t been on skates since I was 12. I’m a little sore today, the back of my left thigh is a bit bruised after a baseball slide fall gone wrong by landing on top of my skate wheels. But, I haven’t had that much fun in a long time, and on top of it I totally got a work out. I had some major stank going on when I got home and it was fantastic! The dames were super nice and inviting. They borrowed me enough pads and a helmet to get me out on the floor with the other “fresh meat” group of about 5 beginner skaters. They had us practicing falls, stopping, cross-overs, pacer line drills, hopping and more. They showed me how to stretch right before and after practice and were super welcoming. I was a sweaty, exhausted mess and I can’t wait to go back next Wednesday!

When I got home, after picking up Q at his first night over at his new babysitter’s house, hopping in the shower and getting the baby to bed, I was ravenously hungry. The night before I attempted to make humas from scratch. I soaked the chic peas, added twice the recommended amount of garlic, and decided to use lime juice instead of lemon only because I love lime more. Initially the concoction was ‘so-so’, but it must have been either the full day of fermentation in the fridge, or my insane hunger, but that was the best humas ever, I put it on toast, settled down to hit up the Headless Horseman boss in WoW with the boys, popped some Advil and went to bed early.

Oh, and on a side note, just for the one person that wants to know…My all-time favorite zombie movie will always be Romero’s Night of the Living Dead...It was the first zombie movie I ever watched. I was maybe 14 at the time, my mother had signed me up to help supervise a kids’ overnight at the Children’s Museum in the basement of the Depot in Duluth. One dark room was set up with a tv and sleeping bags and it was a fun night, kids were running wild all over with barely any sleep or adult supervision. It’s probably the only time I’ve seen that movie in its entirety and I’ve loved zombies ever since. I like them all; the slow dumb ones, or the fast screaming ones, even the ‘smart’ zombies that seem to retain some knowledge of their past lives. Oh, and based on your recommendation, I’ve got my own copy of World War Z. I started it this morning, while Q was in the tub.

Did I mention I can’t wait for next Wednesday? ;)

Reminiscing with the geek me of 10 years ago.

So Saturday is the rummage sale, and while in the basement tonight hunting for items for the sale, I ran across something that really made me laugh at myself. This is completely going to reveal how big of a geek I was/am. Amongst other treasures like my U.S. state key chain collection (I think I have about 40!) I found this cute little pink sparkly notebook. It's the notebook that I logged info about the other eWrestler characters in my eWrestling guild thing from like 10 years ago. Hilarious!

Each pink page was devoted to a wrestler, apparently I kept notes on some of the characters to keep up with who was who, and who sucked.

Wrestler: CJ Hunter
- Tag team w/Pras, called "Random Violence"
- Pretty good promo, all shit talk about others, especially "newbies"

Wrestler: The Shattered One
- wears a silver mask
- "kidnapped?" DA (Kestral Falco's grandpa). Pretended to cut off his hand.
- okay rp

Wrestler: Shawn Hillard
- ex semi driver
- poor shit talker, boring rp

Wrestler: Chris Saint
- long black hair
- fucked up Charles Darwin quote following poor rp

Wrestler: The Dark Phantom
- "faceless entity"
- DP for short
- okay rp, nothing special, just shit talk

Wrestler: The Revolution Adam Knight
- former friends w/ Blade
- married to Samantha Knight
- pet wolf named Midnight
- Darrel Besolve beat up the whole "family", Samantha hospitalized
- friends with Ty Walker
- awesome rp

Wrestler: The Master of Combat: Wolfgang Krauser
- newbie w/anime pictured site.
- mention of Krauser's fam involved w/ the Nazis
- crap rp

Wrestler: Curt Olsen
- Great Lakes Champion
- "bruised ego"
- Canadian?
- pretty good rp

Wrestler: Ace Stevens
- GAS2K movie theater
- MKT3K rip off
- great rp, 2002 predicts

Wrestler: Killa187
- GAS2K movie theater
- MKT3K rip off
- stupid...
- looking for 3rd member for Da Ace Killas

My wrestler's name was Cinco, he only had one arm, and he had a pet sidekick monkey named Seis who did nothing but cause trouble. Oh yes, Seis only had one eye.

I've been busy, making hats mostly...Got an order for 4 of them I just finished up and I'm working on a hat and mitten set for another request. And I need to get some inventory together for when I send items to that store in VA to sell my stuff! I bought a whole slew of yarn from Hancock Fabrics that was 30% off. Score.

Fantastic News!

I got an email through my etsy store from an art studio owner in Virginia. She loved my hats so much that she wants to sell them in her gift shop! How exciting is that? I'm so stoked! She said really nice things about my work and I'm really flattered. She charges $15 a month to rent space in her shop and sends 100% of purchases back to the artists! I'm planning on sending her 8 hats to start with.

I asked her if I needed a cute basket or hat rack to disply my items and she thought a hat rack would really be a good display, so now I'm on the hunt to find something that will work, and be something I could fairly easily ship to her.

My Uncle Cozzy owns a screen printing business and I stopped by there today to brainstorm with him on who I could make labels with my website information to sew into each hat. Why is all ribbon made out of 10% Polyester? His ink needs to be heat set and that would just melt in his ink oven thing. I need to do some searching for what to make the tags out of...

Then tonight I went out for dinner with my sisterinlaw and her buddies. I brought two of my hats for her or her friends to model for a couple of pictures...The acorn hat above is one of them. And one of them fell in love with a bear ear hat and bought it! Score!

I made another ghost hat to replace the one that sold...Hopefully I'll finish another item to post today. I'm thinking an adult sized hat, with a felt acorn on it. Needs more thought.

Otherwise I've been playing a lot of World of Warcraft. I got invited to the beta testing of their new expansion WotLK! And it's so fun! I can't wait for the real game to come out. I'm going to level a death knight class first. For those that don't speak WoW, just skip this information entirely, you won't care a thing about it. I'd say that about 40% of the DKs running around the beta DK starting area are girl gnomes with pigtails, me included! Most are humans, sometimes you see a dranei, but rarely ever do you see a dwarf. The quests are fun too. Northrend is insanely fun just to fly around on a premade lvl 80. I chose a hunter to play with the talent tree stuff. It costs only 1c to respec and the premades come with 5000g to start with!

I think we're off to visit a friend today. She's due with her 3rd child on October 14th and is at home bored. They have two boys and this one is a girl, they're going to name her Violet and I LOVE the name!
